5미터 높이 <탑>이 미술관 로비를 점령하듯 자리 잡아 눈길을 끈다. 유리 파사드를 통해 건물 밖에서도 형체가 드러나 보이고, 탑 내부에 설치된 조명으로 밤에 그 존재감이 더욱 두드러진다. 연약한 속성의 목재 틀에 붉은 노끈으로 치장한 거대 <탑>은 인간의 무한한 욕망을 상징하는 한편, 쉽게 훼손되어 사라지는 유한성을 보여주기도 한다. 작품은 현대사회가 좇는 부질없는 욕망의 속성을 은유한다.

김수환은 자신의 경험과 상상을 토대로 인간 존재에 대한 반성과 성찰을 다루는 작품을 만든다. 드로잉과 페인팅, 애니메이션, 입체, 설치, 단편소설 등 다양한 매체로 활동해 왔으며, 주요 작업으로는 가족사를 바탕으로 인간의 욕망과 절망을 그린 <성기소년> 연작이 있다. 그래픽디자인과 출판, 기획, 프로모션을 진행하고 있다.

On entering the museum lobby, <Pagoda>, a 5m-high installation standing with a dominant presence, draws attention. Its shape is visible through the glass facade even from outside the building, and the lights installed at its interior make the work more distinguishable at night. Decorated with red twines hanging on a cheap, frail wooden structure, <Pagoda> on one side reveals the endless greed of humankind, while the other showing the impermanent nature through the materiality of the work that would easily break apart and disappear into nothingness. The work is also a metaphor for the wanton greed of contemporary society that vanishes without being achieved.
