2011년 발표한 <오래된 약국>은 점술가, 정신과 의사, 예술가가 관람객을 만나 그들의 ‘꿈’을 조사한 관객 참여 프로젝트다. 그로부터 10년이 지난 2021년 선보이는 <오래된 약국 2021>은 원년 멤버인 정신과 의사 성유미와 예술가 박혜수, 그리고 새 멤버인 작가 두이가 함께한다. ‘오래된 약국’에서 관람객은 상담사와 ‘과거(기억), 현재(재미), 미래(운)’에 대해 대화를 나눈 후 이에 맞는 처방을 받는다. 점술가는 자각을 통해 잊고 싶은 과거의 ‘기억’에서 해방될 수 있도록 마음을 다스려 주고, 의사는 현재 처한 시간의 감각을 살피며 잃어버린 ‘재미’를 찾을 수 있게 돕는다. 예술가는 첫인상과 인간관계 그리고 미래에 대한 기대를 반영한 조향(調香)을 통해 ‘운’에 대해 능동적으로 생각해 보게 한다.

노말리티는 예술가 박혜수와 정신과 의사 성유미가 결성한 프로젝트 그룹이다. 박혜수가 2009년 시작한 프로젝트 <대화>에 성유미가 자문 역할을 한 인연으로 <오래된 약국>(2011)과 <보통의 정의>(2013~2016) 그리고 <토론극장: 우리_들>(2019~) 프로젝트까지 함께하고 있다. 보통과 정상에 대한 경계, 스스로 이해하는 자아 찾기를 주제로 한 다양한 실험을 진행했다. 두이는 시간을 주제로 한 스토리텔링을 시각화하는 작업을 한다. ‘전시’라는 형태를 작업의 질료로 여기며, 내러티브와 이미지 사이의 관계를 통해 시간을 경험하고 상상하는 일에 관심을 가진다.

Presented first in 2011, <Ancient Pharmacy> was an interactive project where an astrologist, a psychiatrist, and an artist met the viewers and researched their “dreams” together. Ten years have passed since then, and this year, the <Ancient Pharmacy 2021> reunites the original members, psychiatrist Yumi Sung and artist Hyesoo Park, joined by a new member, artist Dooee. In <Ancient Pharmacy 2021>, Viewers get prescriptions based on the conversation shared with the counselor about their past(memory), present(joy), and future(luck). The astrologist helps to free oneself from “the memory” by promoting self-awareness. And the psychiatrist helps to recover “the joy” that has been lost in one’s life by examining the senses from the present time. The artist helps to think proactively about “the luck” through the perfumery reflecting first impressions, human interactions, and expectations about the future.
