<달의 정원>은 에스밧(Esbat)이라는 여 사제가 달의 힘을 불러일으키는 ‘초환 의식’을 모티브로 한 미디어아트이다. 초환 의식은 달이 위상에 따라 모양이 변하고 주기가 반복되듯 천지만물이 서로 연결되어 생태계와 우주를 이루고 있다는 메시지를 담고 있다. 인류 탄생 이전부터 지구와 함께 존재해 온 달을 매개 삼아 최근 지구를 덮친 팬데믹 상황도 생태계 파괴에서 비롯되었음을 암시하려는 듯하다. 달 조형물에 입혀진 프로젝션 매핑이 앰비언트 사운드(자연적으로 발생하는 소리)와 결합되어 불안과 두려움을 치유하는 명상의 순간으로 이끈다.

비디오로즈(강현우, 허철주)는 사운드와 비주얼을 중심으로 다매체 예술을 지향하는 아트 그룹이다. 동서양의 신비주의 철학과 사이키델릭, 동화적인 환상, 자연과 생태계를 비선형적 내러티브를 통해 구조화한다. 타로카드의 상징적인 그림을 텍스트로 풀어낸 스토리텔링 아트북을 출간했으며, 콜라주 형식의 애니메이션, 모션그래픽을 이용해 잃어가고 있는 자연과 원시, 생태계에 대해 표현한 영상과 음악 앨범을 발매하기도 했다.

<Moon Garden> is a media art created from the motif based on the summoning ritual of the priestess ‘Esbat’ calling for the power of the moon. This ritual tells us that the whole world is interconnected and thus exists as the universe and the ecosystem, just like the moon and its shifting shapes in changing phases and coordinations. The moon, a longtime company of the Earth ever since the dawn of mankind, as a medium, the work seems to underline the reality of the environmental destruction that may have caused the current pandemic on Earth. Projection mapping and the ambient sound bind and emerge together on top of the moon structure, allowing a meditative moment to lift away all fears and anxiety.
